Grand Funk Railroad

Grand Funk Railroad Will always hold a special place in my heart and memories. They were my 1st concert experience(We're An American Band tour 1972). The first band I truely loved and felt spoke to me. I was hooked from the first time I listened to Closer To Home. It was after seeing Mark Farner's long hair that I told my dad I wasn't getting haircuts anymore. I did get to see the original trio in 1983 during a reunion tour(and made that my oldest son's 1st concert experience). Though the group has splintered(with Farner going solo and considering himself a Rock n' Roll Patriot with a group he's tagged n'rg and Brewer & Schacher carrying on with two new members (who from all reports are doing a great job of filling Farner's shoes). But for me, it will always be the original three members of Mark, Don, & Mel who helped me through adolescence. They have left a catalog of recordings that Should be best explored LOUD

Cactus

Ok folks, Here's another one that I recently re dug up lately. Digging around in a store that deals in older groups, reissues and imports, I ran across Cactus and found that they actually had a new release out. Cactus V . I've had a chance to digest this jewel and I can tell you honestly it is gonna occupy a slot in my multi-disk player for quite a while! Carmen Appice and Tim Bogart are still a vital Rythym section and you could not tell that they've been apart for however many years. If the 1st song "doin' Time" doesn't have you up and shaking your butt in front of the stereo than nothing will! Alls I can say is enjoy! Peace!

my first forgotten rock diamond

I know this group is still an active touring unit. but when exploring their back catalog, I asked myself"how did I miss them way back when? these guys were doing twin lead guitars around the same time as the Allman Brothers and I guess a good discussion could be had over who was doing it first.
